Divisional Financial Lead

Applications are now open for the position of Divisional Financial Lead as part of the National Financial Committee. 

The Divisional Financial Lead (DFL)  is responsible for assisting the Divisions of UN Youth Australia and the National Finance team  in ensuring that the National Organisation and its Divisions meets its financial reporting obligations.

NOTE: The appointment of this position will prioritise people with previous or ongoing experiences in the finance or accounting field.

All members must be under the age of 25 at the time of their appointment and eligible for Associate Membership of either a Division of UN Youth Australia or the national organisation. They must hold, or be eligible to hold, a Working With Children Check (WWCC) or state equivalent.

Responsibilities include:

Assisting the Director Of Finance and CFO in providing financial support to UN Youth’s divisions. This includes but isn’t limited to budgeting, cash flow forecasting, AP/AR and banking. They are also responsible for coordinating the quarterly divisional financial oversight process (quarterly reporting) and for holding semi-regular calls with divisional finance directors/ treasurers to encourage collaboration.

  • Maintain sufficient financial reporting to meet legal requirements (via Xero)
  • Manage divisions payments and collection of accounts receivable
  • Coordinate with event conveyors to plan and execute invoicing for events
  • Oversight of Division budgets

Additionally, the Divisional Finance Lead is expected to demonstrate the following core competencies: 

Applicants must:  

  • Have commenced or finished a finance or accounting major/specialisation.
  • Be eligible to be a facilitator, between the age of 18 – 25.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience in preparing financial information;
  • Prior experience working with Xero, and
  • Previous experience in people management.

  • 07-10 hours per week plus team meetings on a fortnightly basis
  • 12-month term (with a 03 month probation period)
