Become a Facilitator
Join Australia’s largest youth-led non for profit and empower the youth of Australia.
LET’S first understand what a facilitator does
Facilitating
Facilitators are role-models for the youth of Australia. Through our programs, facilitators engage delegates through peer-to-peer education, exploring global issues through rich discussion, debate and the experiences of stepping into the shoes of a diplomat. Our programs immerse delegates in global affairs and the mission of the United Nations.
Facilitators are at the core of our organisation, delivering our educational activities to delegates (our nickname for high school students) through a wide range of styles, including Workshops, Model United Nations (MUNs) and Interactive Problem Solving simulations. Facilitating at UN Youth is an opportunity to empower the youth of Australia.
Opening young eyes to the world
Our mission as facilitators is to equip a generation of young leaders with the skills and inspiration to drive change on these global issues. We aim to empower young people to be leaders on the world stage
A wide range of opportunities.
Volunteering as a Facilitator is a great way to gain highly sought after soft-skills and involvement in the not-for-profit sector. You will have opportunities to engage with high-school students, but our volunteers are also involved in judging competitions, project management, writing educational material, operating our marketing and finance functions, and leading the organisation.
UN Youth runs a wide variety of events that explore social and political issues the world faces today and enrich delegates with the skills and drive to solve them. Within Australia, we organise a National Youth Conference, Evatt (a national Model UN competition), Voice (a national public speaking competition) and a wide variety of state and territory events. Internationally, we coordinate educational tours of Europe, East Timor, the Middle East and New Zealand and the United States of America for secondary school students.
A network of volunteers
UN Youth Australia has over 700 volunteers across Australia in every state and territory. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and often are either studying or working in a variety of fields. At our core, we are all passionate about empowering young people.
As you volunteer with UN Youth, you will have the opportunity to meet volunteers from across your division at divisional activities and programs, and State/Territory Councils. At our bi-annual National Councils, volunteers from all divisions will meet together to discuss the future of the organisation. Our national operations often results in volunteers becoming close friends with other volunteers from all across Australia.
